Bettina Chauvin Obituary

Chauvin, Bettina "B"
MECHANICVILLE - Bettina "B" Chauvin, 88 of Mechanicville, passed away peacefully January 10, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her parents Nickolas and Lena Izzo; her brother, Nickolas Izzo; and her beloved husband of 65 years, Martin Chauvin.
On April 16, 1955, Bettina married Martin Vincent Chauvin, beginning a beautiful marriage and family. To Bettina, family was her whole heart, and she demonstrated that every day. Whether it was cooking beautiful meals, caring for her grandchildren, or creating lasting memories and traditions surrounding every holiday, Bettina ensured her love was always palpable. To "Grandma B", every event was important, and she never missed a moment, no matter how big or small. She was known to keep photos in her pocketbook to share (and brag a little!) whenever the opportunity presented itself.
Bettina instilled a love of reading, and she and her husband frequented the Mechanicville Public Library. She took pride in her local community and was adored by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Music remained one of her greatest joys through late adulthood and she was always delighted if she could find a partner who could polka.
Bettina is survived by her son Martin Chauvin (Barbara) of Halfmoon; and daughters, Patricia Chauvin of Poughkeepsie, Laura Chauvin (Dean Wiggs) of Gaithersburg, Md.; Caroline Chauvin (Richard White) of Ballston Lake, Ann Chauvin (Chris Wiggs) of Arlington, Va.; along with seven grandchildren, Daniel Chauvin (wife Rebecca and daughter Madelyn), Dr. Lauren Berninger, Justin Wiggs (wife Nicole and son Liam), Kevin Chauvin, Matthew Berninger, Emily White (husband Christopher and son Dominic) and Jessica Wiggs. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Emilia Izzo, as well as many cherished nephews, nieces, and friends.
Calling hours will be held at DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2022. A funeral Mass at 9 a.m. on Friday, January 13, will be held at All Saints on the Hudson South Church (St. Paul's), 121 N. Main, Mechanicville, followed by interment in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

We offer our deepest condolences to the Chauvin family on the passing of a great mother and grandmother, "B". We have fond memories from our many visits with she and Marty over 35 years in both Mechanicsville and in Washington DC. She made everyone feel like they were the only person in the room, always with a "B-eatific"smile, when surrounded by family and friends. We will miss her and hope that her family finds great comfort reflecting on the loving care they provided to their Mother in her time of need.
