Burnella Jackson-Ransom Obituary
Her funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 13, at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta. Murray Brothers Funeral Home is handling the services.
Jackson-Ransom, who moved to Atlanta in 1965, spent nearly 60 years as a leading Black businesswoman, building a public relations firm, managing soul music acts and working with civic organizations.
She also served as Atlanta's first Black first lady, as the then-wife of Mayor Maynard Jackson.
"She had that natural charm that was from the heart and not fake," said her son, Maynard H. "Buzzy" Jackson III. "It was all about helping people for her."

Bunnie will be sorely missed by the Cascade/Atlanta/metro business community. She was smart, quick witted and very insightful. She was VERY helpful in launching & growing my new business in the Cascade area 22 years ago. Her advice, counsel and marketing expertise were critical to a successful launching of this new enterprise. God bless her and her family. May she rest in peace.

Bunnie was a beautiful lady and savvy businesswoman. I interfaced with her in several social clubs and even there, her business acumen and social grace was obvious. My oldest daughter and hers were good high school friends and enjoyed the perks and gracious hospitality of good times spent in Bunnie´s lovely home......
We will all miss this beautiful spirit.
And we wish for the family to take courage and strength from the wonderful memories of the beauty and grace of our Bunnie....

She was a teacher, a boss, a business woman, a mother-figure, a confidant, a mentor, a friend, a leader, a force! She led an amazing life and shared her knowledge and enthusiasm with the world. Bunnie hired me when I was 17 and gave me opportunities that lead me to a career I loved. She is the reason for so many of my lifelong friendships. I'm blessed to have been a protégé of this exceptional (First) Lady and honored to be mentioned in her Memoir. Rest in Heaven, Bunnie. I love you.
