Marvy Durden Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Miller Funeral Home on Mar. 8, 2026.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marvy Heston Durden, II, of Piedmont, AL. A man of unwavering kindness and compassion, Marvy was born on April 21st, 1988 in Augusta, GA, and transitioned out of this life on March 5th, 2026 in Atlanta, GA. Through his journey of 37 years, he touched many lives with his humor, optimism, and his steadfast perseverance.

Marvy lived a life dedicated to lifting those around him. As a father of three he made sure his children knew he loved them everyday. As a husband, he was steadfastly devoted to his wife. And in countless ways as brother, son, uncle, cousin, and friend, Marvy made the days of those around him lighter and more colorful through his humor and kind-spirit. However, Marvy did have a mischievous streak, and loved a good prank or spooky mask.

Marvy was a stellar employee in the hospitality industry. His colleagues and patrons often spoke highly of Marvy's dedication to making complete strangers feel welcome. Perhaps it was because Marvy never met a stranger and would find connections with those around him. This endearing quality continued even through Marvy's lengthy hospital stays as he was battling a congenital heart defect. His doctors and nurses spoke of the lasting impact that Marvy had on the staff.

Marvy is survived by his wife, Renee Durden, of Piedmont, AL; daughters, Shaylee Durden of Piedmont, AL and Trinity McCann of Lagrange, GA; grandchild, Grasen Calhoun; father, Marvy Durden of Augusta, GA; and sisters, Heather Stich, of Tallapoosa, GA, Gabrielle Durden, Jessica Durden, and Rebecca Durden, all of Swainsboro, GA. He is also survived by his paternal aunts and uncles, Leon and Leslie Durden, of Augusta, GA, Timmy and Aimee, of North Augusta, SC, Lemuel and Trinh Durden, of Madison, GA, and Theodosia and Garry Hodge of Swainsboro, GA; maternal aunts and uncles, Debbie and Danny Williams and Cathy and Rusty Smith, all of Augusta, GA; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Michelle Manning, of Augusta GA, and his daughter Scarlett Durden of Piedmont, AL. He is also preceded by his paternal grandparents, Morris and Martha Durden, of Augusta, GA, and his maternal grandparents, Willie and Ruth Manning, of Augusta, GA and Walt Whitmore, of Augusta, GA; and maternal aunt and uncle, Willie Manning and Vicky Williams, of Augusta, GA.

A Celebration of Life Memorial service for Marvy will be held Saturday, March 14th, 2026 at 12:00 PM in the Miller Funeral Home Dogwood Chapel with family and friends speaking. If able, the family welcomes everyone to wear something of Heston's favorite color, green. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday beginning at 11:00 AM.
