Funeral service for Suzanne Marie Shoemaker, 38, of Piedmont, will be Friday, March 06, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. at Thompson Funeral Home with Rev. Danny McGinnis officiating. Burial will follow at Piedmont Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. Suzanne passed away Monday, March 02, 2026 at her home. She is survived by her husband of 16 years, Anthony Shoemaker of Piedmont; her parents, Lisa McGinnis Parkerson (Keith) of Hokes Bluff and Terry Steed of Piedmont; grandparents, Danny and Janet McGinnis of Piedmont; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and fur babies, Smokey and Buddy. Suzanne was preceded in death by her grandparents, J.W. and Margie Steed; great-grandparents, James and Frances McGinnis, Catherine and Joe Martin, and Charles Parris; and aunt, Diane Atchley. Suzanne was a lifelong resident of Piedmont and was employed by Gadsden Regional Medical Center. She enjoyed collecting designer handbags, traveling to new places, and capturing special memories through photography. Shopping was one of her favorite pastimes. At the heart of Suzanne's world was her family. A young matriarch in every sense of the word. She had a natural way of keeping everyone in line while making sure they always felt supported and cared for. Her strength, guidance, and unwavering devotion were the glue that held her family together. Suzanne was a wonderful cook, known for preparing meals that brought everyone to the table. With her big heart and deep love for all animals, she extended kindness not only to her family and friends but to every creature she encountered. Suzanne will always be remembered as the heart of the family and a bright light in the lives of all who knew her.
