Jerry L. Durden

DURDEN – Jerry L. Durden, age 82 of Loganville, GA, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2026. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at Corinth Christian Church, 1635 Highway 81, Loganville, with Minister Adam Turner officiating. The family will receive friends 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM prior to the service. Jerry served his country honorably in the U.S. Army / National Guard during the Vietnam Conflict. He was employed with Western Electric, BellSouth and AT&T Lucent Technologies for many years. Jerry was also a ParaPro for Walton County Schools for over 20 years. Jerry was a member of Corinth Christian Church where he sung in the choir, served as a Sunday School Teacher, the youngest Sunday School Superintendent at the age of 17, Deacon and Elder. He was the only Elder ever ejected from a basketball game at the church. Jerry and Polly Rockmore organized the Loganville Youth Basketball program in 1978 with 50 players. The program has grown immensely through the years. Jerry was also very involved with the National Softball Association. He was an umpire for Little League, High School, and College baseball and fast pitch softball. Jerry also served as a referee for High School Basketball, Football, and Fast Pitch Softball. He was always involved with his children, coaching Chris in baseball and basketball and Sallyanne in softball. Jerry was also an avid golfer, serving as PGA Tour Marshall for the Eastlake Bell South Classic Tour on Sugarloaf. Jerry loved to grill and thought of himself as a grillmaster. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Ridgeway Andrew and Anne Lou (Palmer) Durden. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Peggy Hembree Durden of Loganville, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Chris (Carrie) Durden of Ellijay, GA; daughter, Sallyanne Durden of Loganville, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Rita (Danny) Baker of Loganville, GA; grandchildren, Chandler (Kayla) Durden of Guyton, GA, Elliott Durden of Ramstein Air Force Base, Germany, and Chayce Durden of Greenville, SC; great grandchild, Riley Durden of Guyton, GA; numerous family and friends. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to Corinth Christian Church, 1635 Highway 81, Loganville, GA 30052.
