My husband and I first met Ike and Joyce across "the fence" . We talked everyday and watched their garden vegetables grow from "the fence". We noticed that Ike seemed to tend to the tomatoes more than the other vegetables, in fact, he really favored one half of the tomatoes more than the other half of the tomatoes. Then we begin to notice that Joyce would fuss over the other half of the tomatoes. My husband and I wondered about their strange garden ritual, as we watched from "the fence". Then one day Joyce expained that they were having a contest to see who grew the best tomatoes! Joyce laughed & Ike had a twinkle in his eye as he confidently told us that at the end of the season he would have the
winning crop! We will certainly miss judging the sizes of Ikes tomatoes from "the fence"!
