Mark Glidden Obituary

Mark R. Glidden

Greenfield, MA - Mark R. Glidden, 33, passed away on January 1, 2024. He was born in Greenfield on June 7, 1990, the son of Dorothy "Dot" Glidden. Mark was a graduate of Greenfield High School Class of 2008. Mark continued his education at Westfield State University receiving his Bachelor's Degree in Business in 2012 followed by a career in Cybersecurity Software sales. Prior to recently moving back to Greenfield, Mark enjoyed the last decade living in Boston.

Mark was a rascal from day one, always pulling pranks and making you laugh. As described by his hockey coach, a funny, crazy young man you came to love. An avid hockey fan, Mark played with FCHA from age 6 and played on the GHS hockey team. He was also on the GHS tennis team sharing the love of the sport with his mom. He also enjoyed playing golf with his friends.

Mark had an exuberance for everything in life. He was passionate about his career. He loved whooping it up during Bruins games, quoting Tom Brady, and watching Roger Federer win. He also loved going out to restaurants in Boston to enjoy a good meal and loved to brag about his own skill at cooking a great steak. Mark loved dogs, when he came to visit you he would always 'claim' your dog as his own. He lost his little buddy Taz in 2021.

He was a great friend; loyal, dedicated, and genuine. Once you were in his circle you were there for life. With his huge smile, infectious charm, mischievous twinkle, and legendary sarcastic wit he didn't have to do much other than be 'Mark' to have you doubled over in laughter.

Mark loved his family, whether it was family holidays at his uncle and aunt's house enjoying her delicious food or a nightly ritual of 'Family Feud' with his mom. He and his mom enjoyed watching sports games together or often just a good movie. He was her everything.

We lost a bright light the day we lost your smile, you were a rare breed. We miss you.

Mark is survived by his mother, Dot Glidden of Greenfield; his aunt and uncle, Mary and Angelo Karpetas of Wallingford, CT; and his many friends. He was predeceased by his grandparents Reginald and Pauline Glidden of Greenfield.

Funeral services will be held Saturday 1/13/2024 at 11:00 am at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal Street, Greenfield. Burial will follow at Green River Cemetery in Greenfield. Dorothy, Angelo and Mary:
Words cannot express how sorry I am for your terrible loss. The following are my thoughts about your beloved Mark. My prayers are with all of you at this time.
I have known Mary and Angelo Karpetas since 2009. So since 2009, it is like I have known their nephew Mark and his mother Dorothy. I was fortunate to meet Dorothy, Mark, his girlfriend, Tonya and his dog a couple of times. My first impression of Mark was that he was such a smart, charismatic, caring adult who had the most genuine smile and biggest heart. I always heard about Mark from Angelo and Mary as he was like a son to them. Yesterday 250 or more people lined up and gathered at the funeral home to pay their last respects to Mark and give condolences to his Mother, his Aunt and Uncle and Mark´s girlfriend. This reflected the love and loyal steadfast dedication that everyone had for Mark. On January 1st we lost a "Bright Star" who was capable of accomplishing anything and God gained a Beautiful Guardian Angel. Rest In Peace, Mark.

Love you man. We acted like brothers to a fault sometimes, and we drifted apart over the years, but I´ll always remember our time living together. You left us too soon.
