Robert Gifford Obituary
Concord, NH - Robert D. Gifford of Concord N.H. Passed away on November. 4, 2023. Born in Concord on April 9, 1935 to Alexander and Jessie Gifford. Predeceased by Siblings Don, Ted, Sandy, John, Besty, Jenni, Jessie and Helen.
"Bob" attended Concord Schools and graduated from C.H.S. in 1953. While in High School, Bob ran track and played football.
After High School Bob joined the U.S. Air Force and spent four years Stationed at Loring Air Force base in Maine. Before leaving the service, Bob married the love of his life Doris Auprey of Concord. They were Married for over 60 years and had two sons: Robert G. and Brian Gifford.
After his Service, Rob attended N.H. Barber School. Spending over 50 years cutting hair at Gifford's Barbershop in Concord. Walking to and from work every day without fail No Matter the weather. Many of his customers became dear friends, spending many hours at his barber shop discussing issues of the day.
Bob was a good man always willing to listen with empathy to family and friends during their time of Need. Short on judgment LONG ON Compassion.
The family wishes to thank family and friends for their Love and Support during this sad time.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in the Spring at the convenience of the family.

Sorry to read that Bob had passed away. My condolences to his family. I used to play Floor Hockey,Badminton and throw Darts wish him and the group at the Downtown Athletic Club. He was a great man. Keep his memories with you.

I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of my favorite barber, Bob Gifford! When I lived and worked in Concord in the 70s, 80s and 90s, Bobs barber shop was a restful place to have pleasant conversations about matters large and small while experiencing the best haircut ever. He was a unique person and will be missed greatly by those who knew him. Condolences to his family.

Bob interviewed me in 1980 regarding joining the Downtown Athletic Club. It felt very exclusive. Little did I know that the existing members were true characters many of whom are still my friends. Bob was a great guy and he and Dottie were special. RIP Rick and Linda Allen
