Mary Shatney

Cornish, NH - Mary M. Shatney, 86, of Cornish, NH passed away peacefully on January 11, 2024.

She was born on August 25, 1937. The daughter of Charles Strobel, Sr and Martha (Merrihew) Strobel.

She began her work history in the restaurant industry beginning at the Windsor Diner, Knapp's Lunch and to owning and operating the Polka Dot Restaurant. She was a hard worker. She was loved by all of her customers and she loved them like family.

She loved gladiolas, her garden and playing bingo. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren a lot, especially in the pool.

Mary is survived by her two daughters, Sherry Greene of Queeche, VT and Rhonda McFarland of Claremont, NH and son, Robert Shatney, Jr of Grafton, NH; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; siblings, Lillian Audette of Meridan, NH Virginia Smith of Abbot, ME, Bertha Ortel of Hamdon, CT, William Strobel of Abbot, ME and Donald Strobel of Charlestown, NH and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Shatney, Sr., her parents, Charles and Martha; siblings, Helen Lambert, Charles Strobel, Jr., Richard Strobel, Robert Strobel and Dorothy Wallace and son-in-law, Joseph Greene, Sr.

A graveside service will be in Edminster Cemetery in Cornish in the spring.

Donations may be made in her memory to the Visiting Nurse and Hospice for VT/NH Hospice, One Medical Center Drive, Lebanon, NH 03756 or Sullivan County Heath Care, Attn: Activities Department, 5 Nursing Home Drive, Unity, NH 03743.
