Kathleen Maiorano Obituary

Kathleen Maiorano

Grantham, NH - Kathleen "Kathy" Maiorano, age 76, of Providence, RI, embarked on her final adventure on January 2, 2024, in Grantham, New Hampshire. Kathy, a true force of nature, was born on March 9, 1947, in Providence, RI, to the late Gloria and Henry Leite. She was a master of wit, a champion of sarcasm, and a beacon of love and laughter.

Kathy was a graduate of North Providence high school class of 1965. She graduated from The Memorial Hospital School of Nursing (1968) and Salve Regina College. She was also a member of Mensa.

Kathy's nursing career was nothing short of legendary. From delivering bundles of joy in the labor and delivery room to revolutionizing healthcare as a Nurse Informaticist, she left an indelible mark on the industry. With her sharp mind and compassionate heart, Kathy cared for countless patients and inspired her colleagues to be the best they could be.

When Kathy wasn't saving lives, she was capturing them through the lens of her camera. Her photography skills were unmatched, and she had a knack for turning ordinary moments into extraordinary memories. She also had a flair for the culinary arts, whipping up delicious dishes that could make anyone's taste buds dance. And let's not forget her mastery of needlepoint, cross-stitch, and crocheting - she could stitch together a masterpiece like nobody's business!

Kathy's biggest adventure, however, was her 44+ year marriage to her loving wife, Kathy Valdes. Together, they created a beautiful family, including their daughter Kristin LaBarre, son-in-law Mark LaBarre, daughter Nancy Mendelsohn, a brood of grandchildren - Tegan de Ogburn, Morgan LaBarre, Taylor deOgburn, Zach Stanley, and great grandchildren Logan deOgburn, and Kiera deOgburn. Kathy's parents, Gloria and Henry Leite, preceded her in death, but their spirits will forever be intertwined with hers and her family's.

In addition to her many accomplishments, Kathy proudly served in the United States Army Reserves from 1978 to 1995. She fearlessly faced challenges head-on and embodied the true spirit of patriotism.

As Kathy embarks on her next great journey, a private celebration of her life will be held. In honor of her memory, contributions can be made to any Parkinson's organization - because even in her passing, Kathy continues to make a difference.

Kathy Maiorano's vibrant spirit, quick wit, and zest for life will forever be remembered. She taught us to laugh, to love, and to embrace every moment. Though she may be gone from our sight, her light will forever shine bright in our hearts. So, let's celebrate her life marking beautiful moments. In her memory, act with kindness toward others, celebrate and love as fiercely as she did. Rest in peace and love. We will see you in our next life times.

This is such a perfect tribute to Kathy, it captures so many of the bits and pieces that made her delightfully her! I worked and became friends with her in the IS years working on CIS, she was such a team player, and always even keeled and regularly injecting humor into whatever was going on. I wish we´d stayed better in touch after retirement. Sending you Kathy V., and the family, much love as you remember, miss, and treasure Kathy...

I am sorry to hear of Kathy's passing. I worked with her at DHMC in the early 2000's in the Information Systems department and when I moved on to APD, I hired her to help implement and train clinicians for the new medical record systems. Kathy was a great teacher, and used her humor and patience to help others in the transition. A gifted spirit who enjoyed life to the fullest. I am sorry for your loss Kathy. After 44 years together, life will certainly be different for you but I know you have many memories to keep her spirit alive.
RIP Kathy
