Betty Melendy Obituary

Betty Jean Melendy, 77, of Oakland, Tennessee passed away on January 27, 2024.

She was born to the late Frank and Mamie Gilbreath on August 4, 1946 in Covington, Tennessee. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Doris Bruce, Glen Gilbreath, Sam Gilbreath, Martha Lynn Gilbreath, Horace Gilbreath, and Kay Hill.

Betty is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Tom Melendy; her daughter, Kim Donovan (Pat); step-daughter, Gerri Rick (Jeff); grandchildren, Anthony Rick (Brooke), Tasha Louison (Jeremy), Caleb Rick (Bailey); great-grandchildren, Silas, Ezra, Ruby, Ava, Isabella, Sophia, Barrett, Easton; and her siblings, Helen Step, Myra Rickard (Billy), Jan Owen (Wayne), Herschel Gilbreath, and Rita Carlyn.

In lieu of flowers, donations are to be sent in memoriam to Colontown a Paltown Community for Colorectal Cancer research and awareness. https://paltown.org/memorial/

The family will receive friends from 9:00 am to 10:00 am on Saturday, February 10 at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd, Bartlett, TN. A memorial service will follow at 10:00 am.
