Terry Gingras Obituary

Terry S. Gingras

Haydenville, MA - Terry S. Gingras

In the early hours of January 14, 2024 Terry Suzanne Gingras of Haydenville passed away just four days shy of her 83rd birthday. She was born in 1941, the daughter of MacDonald and Norma (Hinds) Smith of Williamsburg, MA.

Terry is survived by her brother Chandler (Butch) Smith, his wife Lynda (Childs) and their family of Colorado, her daughter Robin R. Gingras of Montague, and sons John R. Gingras and Stephen L. Gingras of Holyoke and Haydenville, respectively.

She met her best friend and husband, Raymond L. Gingras in tap dance class at the age of five, graduated together from Williamsburg High School in 1958, and married in 1964. They spent the next 56 years together side by side.

Terry was a unique woman and local figure in Williamsburg and Haydenville where she lived her entire life. She knew many people in town and around the Pioneer Valley and beyond. She was always happy to lend her support to others and involved in numerous community activities. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband to Europe for business. In addition, with friends, she went to Alaska, Canada, Ireland and the Caribbean, as well as to various craft shows in New England and the Midwest.

Terry received her RN from Greenfield Community College in the early 80s and worked for a wide range of health care professionals and services for many years. She also worked for several small businesses who needed just the right individual – someone who possessed an excellent eye for detail, superb typing and math skills, excellent spelling and editing abilities and a cheerful disposition.

Later in life Terry became a mentor to others with her knowledge and skills in crafting, and spent many years teaching stamping and card making classes. She loved the camaraderie and creativity of those pursuits and excelled at both.

The last three years of Terry's life were spent at Linda Manor in Leeds where she created several friendships with some wonderful women. She was a dedicated participant and supporter of the Activities Department during her stay. Her bright blue eyes, pretty smile and sense of humor drew others to her and she will be remembered and missed by many.

In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her husband Raymond Gingras, her brothers Raymond and Mandell Smith, and sister Dorothy Hunt.

There are no calling hours. All services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
