Adeline Radford Obituary

Adeline Radford

Northampton, MA - Adeline (Addie) Margaret Radford passed away on February 3, 2024 after a brief illness. Adeline was born in Springfield MA on July 14, 1927 to Leo and Lena (Hilse) DuBois. She graduated from Commerce High School in 1944. In 1948 she married Louis Alexander and they had 3 daughters. Unfortunately their love was cut short when Louis died in 1954. In 1957 Adeline met Dennis Radford and they were married later that year. They soon had a son, completing their family.

Adeline had many jobs in her life and received the most satisfaction working as a medical receptionist and medical secretary. She also truly enjoyed being a part time writer for the Otis Country Journal. Adeline served on many boards including the Kiwanian's. She volunteered for various organizations and causes, including developing taped readings for children and running a blood pressure clinic for seniors. Adeline began the Brookman A Association in East Otis MA to preserve a small community beach. That association continues today.

East Otis, MA was a special place for Adeline as she first went there with her parents when she was about 6 years old and spent much time swimming and camping there as a child. Her and Dennis bought land there in 1962 and put up a small summer place and eventually rebuilt and lived there for 10 years. Dennis and Adeline also enjoyed an active life in Englewood Florida for 18 years after their retirement. Adeline loved to travel and her favorite destination was Bermuda which they visited many times.

Adeline loved to skate as a child. She excelled at ballroom dancing, participated in many bowling leagues and enjoyed sight-seeing, cribbage, music and singing, playing the piano, reading, knitting and painting designs on clothing. Adeline also loved animals and owned many cats and dogs, and enjoyed long country rides, sunshine and watching her birds.

Adeline was very family oriented and was devoted to her parents, always being there for them as they aged. Her children and grand children were a source of pleasure and she was proud of them and their accomplishments. She loved spending time with them and especially enjoyed family gatherings. Adeline was a devoted christian all of her life and instilled this faith in her children. In 2015 she found her spiritual home at St Phillip's Episcopal Church and this community was very important to her.

Adeline leaves a daughter, Lois Jean Pare and her husband Ronald Pare, a son Dennis Radford II and his wife Doreen Boyer. Adeline was predeceased by her husband Dennis Radford and 2 daughters, Sharon Rose Lea Laro and Carlene Louise Alexander. She also leaves many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Adeline's service will be held on February 24 at 11:00AM at St. Philip's Episcopal Church, 126 Main St. Easthampton, MA. A Celebration of Life will be held in the church hall at noon. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Shriner's Hospital, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.
