Richard Morse Obituary

Richard "Rick" Morse, Jr.

Sunapee, NH - Richard (Rick) Morse, Jr died of a heart attack in his sleep on the morning of March 5, 2024, at the age of 64.

Rick was born on April 11, 1959, in Claremont, NH to Richard Morse Sr and Lynda (Wiggins) Morse.

Rick graduated from Sunapee Middle High School, class of 1977. After graduating high school, Rick worked for the State Highway Department for a year then started his lifelong career as a carpenter, first working with his dad then going out on his own when his dad retired in 1997.

Rick married his soulmate, Cheryl A. (Bellimer) Morse on August 5, 1989. In 1997, Rick and Cheryl moved into their new home in Sunapee that Rick built himself. In 2004, Rick's life changed forever when he and Cheryl welcomed a long-awaited child, a son named Hunter. Hunter was born the day after their 15th wedding anniversary. Rick became a loving and devoted father, showing Hunter everything in the woods/outdoors as soon as he was old

enough to understand. He gave Hunter his first gun, a Cricket 22. rifle when Hunter was only five years old. Since that day, the two "boys" were inseparable in the woods, helping Hunter get his first deer, a huge 8-point buck at the age of 9, Rick could not have been more proud of the young hunter his son has become.

Rick was a genuinely kind, loving man, with a heart of gold and an infectious laugh that made you laugh even harder. He was an amazing storyteller and would keep you interested in his "old days" of hunting in VT with his grandfather "Red", father, uncle, and friends. Rick loved sports, especially baseball. Rick and Hunter were known for spending endless hours at the baseball field at any time of the day and weekends. Rick would pitch thousands of baseballs to Hunter over the course of his life. Rick was an avid hunter and fisherman, taking his boat "Blackghost" out on the lake as well as fly-fishing in the Black River in VT for trophy fish. Rick's other hobbies include making his own fishing lures and selling them in the local bait and tackle shops. Most recently, Rick got back into fly tying with the help of his son Hunter.

Rick is predeceased by both of his parents, a sister Melissa, a sister-in-law, Sherry and brother-in-law Kelly. Surviving family include his wife of 34 years, his son Hunter, brothers- in-law Peter Bellimer, Jeff Bellimer (Heidi), special niece Micole Bellimer and nephew Kyle Bellimer, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and of course friends (some of which are considered family).

Calling hours are scheduled for Monday, March 18, at the Chadwick Funeral Home, 235 Main Street, New London, NH from 2-4 P.M. Hunter has asked that anyone attending or visiting, please bring a written story or memory of Rick to share for a scrapbook.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Association and the Alzheimer's Association.

Burial will be held at a later date in the late spring at Eastman

Cemetery on North Road.

To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

Two 10 year old boys exploring the river out behind Ricky's house on lower village. We'd also explore around Trow's Mill and the fish ponds of old Harry Gregory. On the dirt road behind the mill yard, Ralf Beard had an old open top car and he'd go speeding by, glasses on, gray hair blown back rumbling past the boys he didn't see in the brush along side the road. This was Sunapee in the early 70's. In the early mornings of summer Ricky's father would often take us out on the lake trolling for lake trout in the deep spots while the water was still calm at daybreak. There's much more for remembrance than I could ever write here.
