Marjorie Hascall Obituary

Marjorie L. Hascall

Concord, NH - Marjorie L. Hascall, 93, of Concord, died on March 14, 2024. A longtime resident of the Heights and a retired Concord Hospital School of Nursing instructor, she sold her Ellsworth Street home in 2021 and moved to the John H. Whittaker Place in Penacook. She enjoyed the camaraderie of fellow residents and staff and most every day occupied a chair in the entry living room where she read her books and newspapers as she greeted visitors and fellow tenants. When cancer struck, she moved to the Harris Hill Nursing facility for comfort care and often opined that proper nurses's attire must include a cap. She appreciated the services of Lily Care Hospice.

Marjorie was born on October 10, 1930, to Lewis H. Hascall and Dorothy L. (Weeks) Hascall, in Auburn, Maine. After graduating from Edward Little High School in 1948, she graduated from the New Hampshire State Hospital School of Nursing and then began her nursing career at Concord Hospital and thereafter the Nursing School as a clinical instructor. She received her Bachelor of Science degree Cum Laude from St. Anselm's in 1963 and was a member and past secretary of St. A's Graduate Nursing Association. She earned her Master of Science Degree from New England College in 1986.

Shortly after moving to New Hampshire, she became a member and librarian of the senior choir at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Hopkinton, New Hampshire. Thereafter, she became a communicant of St. Paul's Church in Concord where she not only worshiped (a Sunday 8:00 am attendee), but spent countless hours volunteering, including membership in the Vestry and Alter Guild. She maintained the church archives until she moved to Whittaker Place.

Marjorie loved to read and enjoyed a library of novels, historical and religious books. She often travelled to her home state of Maine, often visiting the Nubble Light House and Stonewall Kitchen. She loved her poodle dogs, Pepper and Nutmeg, who will remain with her always.

Donations in her memory can be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church Rector's Fund, 21 Centre Street, Concord, New Hampshire 03301. Service and burial will be held at a later date at St. Paul's Episcopal church.
