Michael Nichols Obituary
A Memphis native, Todd was born to Thomas Eugene Nichols and Carole Armstrong Nichols on March 4, 1965.
Upon graduation from Bishop Byrne High School in 1983, Todd enrolled at Delta State University (home of the Fighting Okra) receiving his Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1988. Todd earned a Bachelor of Architecture from Mississippi State University in 1998.
Working decades as a professional architect, his true calling was art. Talented across mediums -- oil painting, pastels, and photography --his keen design eye, affinity for nature, and gifted use of light and shadow came to life in his art. Photography became his primary focus, including, in recent years, a featured public installation in Memphis.
Intelligent, witty, and self-effacing, Todd was genuinely interested in and could relate to anyone whether in a boardroom, shooting pool, or standing around a bonfire. Truth be told, he preferred his blue sleeves and work boots over a white collar any day. He loved to travel. Above all, Todd cherished a close cadre of childhood friends enduring from pre-school through college and beyond. He embraced friends as family.
Todd was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sister, Traci Nichols, and her husband Jay Limbaugh, both of Memphis; his former wife Courtney Covington of Duncan, MS; and extended family including aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and a nephew; and many beloved friends.
A service will be held at St. Peter Catholic Church, 190 Adams Avenue on Thursday, April 11th at 1:30 pm.

Todd was my cousin and I loved him very much. It's true that our cousins are our first friends. We spent a lot of time together growing up. I will miss his sweet spirit.

My husband (Courtney´s cousin) and our family met Todd when he and Courtney were still together. He had a very sweet down to earth personality, and very compassionate person. I am so sorry for your loss, Todd will be sorely missed. You´re in my prayers.
