Howard L. Lyman

Newport, NH - Howard L. Lyman, 90 of Newport, NH, passed away peacefully in New London Hospital on April 26, 2024. He was born to Leslie and Eunice (Cobleigh) Lyman in Windsor, VT and enjoyed his life as an avid outdoorsman and gardener, spending the happiest times of his life on Perkins Pond and in Pittsburg, NH.

Howard graduated from Hartford High School in 1951 and married Louise Barbour Lyman in 1952.

He worked as a machinist in many local machine shops, ending his career at Micro Precision in Sunapee, NH.

Howard was a member of the Free Masons and the Shriners. He could be seen in many parades in New England as a member of the Bektash Oriental Band either playing cymbals or driving the flatbed truck. He and his wife Louise enjoyed many outings with the Shriners including trips to Hawaii and Calgary, Canada. He supported the Shriners by working at fundraising events including the Shrine Circus held annually in Manchester NH.

Howard was predeceased by his parents, his wife Louise, his brother Earl and his stepson "Chuck" Holmes.

Howard is survived by his wife Dorothy Holmes Lyman, her children Mark and Donald Holmes and their families, his daughter Kerry and her husband Tony Hebert, his son Kenneth and his wife Mary Lyman, his sister Alice and her husband Robert Vincent and many nieces and nephews.

He is also survived by his grandchildren Russell Hebert, Mindy Johnson, Lori Corrette, Christopher Lyman and their spouses, Caitlyn Hockenbury, Kelsey Pitkin and her spouse.

Howard leaves his great grandchildren Stephen Hebert, Zachery and Tyler Warner, Carter, Jackson and Oliver Lyman, Emmitt Pitkin and his great, great grandchildren Cooper, Cain & Colt Warner.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 am on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home, 42 Main Street Newport, NH, followed by a funeral service, held at 11:30 am at First Congregational Church of Croydon, 29 Croydon Turnpike Road Croydon, NH with burial afterwards at Eastman Cemetery, 490 N Road Sunapee, NH. A reception will be held after the burial at the Sugar River Bank Community Room, 10 N Main Street, Newport.
