Joyce Tawney Obituary
Simsbury, CT - Joyce E. (LeBlanc) Tawney, 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 16, 2024 in Simsbury, CT.
Joyce was born in Brattleboro, VT on June 25, 1935, the daughter of Alcide and Mary Isabelle (Mosher) LeBlanc.
She was a bookkeeper for various area businesses including the former Larry's Clothing store and Mohawk Manor Rest Home, both in Shelburne Falls. She was an active member of the Shelburne Falls community at the Senior Center, long-time member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and in her earlier years a member of the KJ Lanes bowling leagues. She also volunteered at the Gift Shop at the Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield.
Joyce was a devoted mother and grandmother, often traveling back and forth from Shelburne Falls and Simsbury, CT to visit with her son, daughter-in-law and granddaughters.
Survivors include her son Bryan Tawney and his wife Kim, granddaughters Olivia, Sophia, Alayna and Isabella, her sister Bette DuBuque of Charlemont, and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Garrell Tawney, sister Martha Salem and half-brother Joseph LeBlanc.
Visiting hours will be Friday, May 24 from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Smith-Kelleher Funeral Home, 40 Church St., Shelburne Falls.
Burial will be private.

Dear Brian and family: I am so sorry I missed this Joyce was a lot of fun to work with at Greenfield Dental She would get pulled away from her desk and come back to it and say " NOW WHERE AM I? " to which I would reply " 126 HIGH STREET" And she would say " OH BE QUITE MELODY" She was a sweet person and she loved you and family SO MUCH !!
