With profound sadness and great love, the family of Patrick J. Nowlan announce his untimely passing on February 2, 2024. Born on June 23, 1958 to the late James Roy Nowlan, Jr and Christine (Goddard) Nowlan in West Windsor Vermont, Patrick was raised and educated there, graduating from Woodstock High School in 1976 and Lyndon State College in 1980.

He chose a career as an occupational therapist, later relocating to the Springfield MA area and earning his master's degree from Springfield College. Patrick thoroughly embraced his career choice and found his years working in the Springfield school system to be fulfilling. He welcomed each day as a new challenge and looked forward to engaging with the students to help them be their best. In his leisure Patrick was most comfortable in the great outdoors, camping, hiking, and backpacking. He had a gift for creating magnificent perennial gardens and enjoyed tending to them. Patrick could also be found relaxing watching his favorite television series Law & Order or listening to music. His most memorable times were those spent with his devoted partner Bruce and his family. The last several months were a difficult journey for Patrick but his partner and his family were at his side supporting him with their love and comfort.

Surviving Patrick are his beloved partner Bruce Tanguay of Agawam, MA, and his daughter Martha Nowlan ,and son Joseph Nowlan and his partner Ky all of Vermont. Also surviving Patrick are his sister Nancy Zurn of North Carolina, brother Peter and wife Kathy of Vermont, brother Nick Nowlan and his significant other Debbie of Florida, brother Mark Nowlan and his wife Kerry of Vermont, sister Martha McClintock and her husband Bill of Vermont, and sister Margaret Fullerton and her husband Scott of Florida. He is also survived by his former wife Helen Moore of Ipswich MA as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and countless friends. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother James D. Nowlan and his sister Judith Schlegel.

The committal services for Patrick J. Nowlan will be in the Nowlan family lot, Sheddsville Cemetery, 615 Cemetery Road, West Windsor, VT, beginning at 12:00 noon in Saturday, June 22nd. A reception will follow at the West Windsor Town Hall, Brownsville, VT.
