GAIL FRENIER

Florence, MA - With great sadness, we announce the loss of our beloved mother Gail Leah Frenier, 78 of Florence, who passed away July 10, 2024 at Cooley Dickinson Hospital. She was born in Northampton March 24, 1946 the daughter of the late Clarence and Margaret (Callahan) Hewes. She retired as a housekeeper of many years from Smith College. Gail married Owen Frenier and they raised 3 boys.

Gail followed her mother's love of dancing and you could find her at the baystate legion dancing up a storm to her favorite bands. Her flower gardens were a passion of hers, so colorful and vibrant just like she was, along with the help of her youngest son Bryan and his landscaping talents. But her most favorite thing in the world was being with her family.

Gail was predeceased by her husband Owen and brothers Clarence Hewes jr, William Hewes, Donald Hewes, Roger Hewes and by her sister Kathleen Green.

She leaves her sons Todd of Goshen, Shane and wife Melissa of Northampton, and Bryan and wife Tammy of Goshen. She is also survived by her sister Marie Poulin of Florence. She also has 4 grandsons who were the light of her life Zachary, Nicholas, Brody and Chase and honorary grandson Christopher.

Gail was known to many of her son's friends as a 2nd mom to them. Always letting them spend time at her home and giving advice if needed. She was also known as Grammy Gail (aka the donut lady) to many young children through Melissa's daycare.

Calling Hours will be Friday July 19, 2024 at the Czelusniak Funeral Home from 4 to 7 pm. An In-House Service will be held Saturday at 10 am followed by burial in St Mary's cemetery. Please go to Czelusniakfuneralhome.com for online condolences and tribute book.
