Shirley Johnson Obituary

Shirley Jean Cole Johnson, age 86, of Olive Branch, MS passed away peacefully and entered eternal rest on July 12th, 2024 at the Methodist Hospice Residence, where she was surrounded by her family who loved her so very much. Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and friend. She was a woman of faith and never failed to let you know that she was always saying her Presbyterian prayers for you. Shirley was born January 6th, 1938 in Lexington, TN and was a 1956 graduate of Southside High School. She spent most of her career working at the railroad and being a baseball coach's wife until retirement. She was an avid Ole Miss fan and rarely missed a game. She was an active member of Faith Presbyterian Church and deeply loved her church family. Shirley's memory will remain in the hearts of her family and friends and her legacy will live on for generations to come.

Shirley is survived by her three sons: Pat (Pam) of Hernando, MS, Ricky of Jacksonville, FL and Micheal (Simone) of Hernando, MS; five grandchildren: Jennifer (Kevin), Jaimie (Philip), AnnaBelle (Timothy), Allie, and Grant; five great grandchildren: Eli, Beau, Ellie, Bentley, and Beckett and great granddog and name sake Birdie Lou-Jean; three siblings Jesse Cole, Sheila Kilpatrick, and Larry Cole and a host of other family and friends. She is preceded in death by beloved husband of 53 years, George Johnson, Father, Houston Cole, and mother, Pauline Cole.

Services will be held on Tuesday, July 16th, 2024 at Faith Presbyterian Church in Germantown, TN. Visitation will be held from 9:30-11:00 and the funeral will immediately follow at 11:00. Interment will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery following services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith Presbyterian Church in Germantown, TN.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the entire staff at the Methodist Hospice Residence for the exceptional care provided during Shirley's stay.
