Jeffery Halfacre Obituary

Jeffery Clark Halfacre died July 11, 2024. Born November 11, 1962 in Memphis, TN, Jeff was the youngest child of Betsy G. Halfacre and Robert Earl Halfacre.

Jeff became an owner at his family's business, Memphis Ice Machine Company, after beginning employment as a service technician in 1983.

Known for his deep kindness and generosity, Jeff embodied a stellar work ethic, an immense joy for his family and friends, and an abundantly kind heart that reached just about everyone he met. He had the gift of connecting with people; Jeff never met a stranger.

A member of Germantown Presbyterian Church for over 30 years, Jeff served as a deacon and an elder. He motivated his peers to volunteer alongside him at Cottonwood Head Start after learning of Porter Leath's opportunity for outreach with their youngest students. He taught Sunday School, mentored numerous confirmands, and was grateful to have found a church home for his family. Since retirement, the men's luncheon group became important to Jeff as he was able to discuss and interpret scripture with close friends.

Jeff loved to be with family, to golf with friends, and to spend quality time in the outdoors at his Whiskey Island hunting club. Jeff was fortunate to travel to unique locations to hunt and fish. He was active in the Collierville community as Dragon Football Booster Club President and worked alongside other boosters to raise the funds necessary to build and furnish the Collierville High School Football weight room. He loved to grow vegetables and maintained a small garden, following in the footsteps of his own father and grandfather.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Tamah Laine Halfacre, whom he met as a student at Ole Miss. They happily parented three children: Laine Halfacre (Emma) of Denver, CO, Harper Grace Foor (David Tate) of Houston, TX, MaryLennox Halfacre of New York, NY, all frequent visiting destinations for Jeff and Tamah.

His brother Robert Earl Halfacre, Jr. (Julie) and sister Betsy Friedl (Bob) worked alongside Jeff in Memphis Ice Machine Company. He loved his nieces and nephews and took delight in watching them grow up to become productive adults and parents.

A memorial service and celebration of Jeff's wonderful life will be held at Germantown Presbyterian Church (2363 S. Germantown Road, Germantown, TN 38138) on Wednesday, July 17 at 1:00 PM with visitation in the Warren Hall from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Jeff's memory to the Rising Together Foundation (https://www.risingtogetherfoundation.com/) or Germantown Presbyterian Church (2363 S Germantown Rd, Germantown, TN 38138).

I met Jeff in 1972 at Sea Isle Elementary School and then in 1973 we continued to attend school together at Elliston Baptist Academy. We played school basketball for six years. He was easy to get along with and we had a lot of fun together. Praying that God will comfort the family and friends who will miss his earthly presence. Romans 8:18 says that the sufferings of this time cannot compare to the glory we will experience as believers of Christ in heaven. So thankful Jeff is not suffering anymore and I look forward to seeing him one day again.

All of us at AIB are heartbroken to hear the news about the passing of our friend Jeff at such a young age. I grew up with Jeff, as we were only 3 month apart in age, and started working at our family ice machine business at about the same time as young men, both businesses founded by our fathers, so we had a lot in common. He was always a bright light in a sometimes challenging world. Jeff had of the sharpest wits and senses of humor you'd ever meet. A truly great man who everyone loved, who will indeed be missed. Deepest sympathy to his family, co-workers and multitude of friends.

Tamah and young uns;
A tremendous light has now been spread amongst family and friends and business associates to lead us into a life in sharing and caring more intently with others. Jeff gave his all to everyone and everything and allowed us to feel capable also. His light will not diminish but disseminate like lightening bugs on a darkened night. Present, glowing and forever bright, like Jeff! Thoughts and prayers as you relish the lovely stories from the hearts of those Jeff touched.

Dear Tamah, Laine, Harper, and Mary Lenox, our thoughts and prayers are with you. Jeff was always willing to help and do whatever was needed for our kids in the community. He was always kind, thoughtful, funny, all around good, and cheerful in all he did. He mentored so many of the boys into fine young men and we will be forever grateful. We will all truly miss him. Praying your cherished memories and God´s peace will fill you in the days to come.
