Ruth Warren Obituary

Ruth Worthington Warren, 77, of Memphis, Tennessee, passed away on July 11, 2024, at Belmont Village Senior Living Home. She was born October 7, 1946, the daughter of William and Ruth Johnston Worthington.

A native Memphian, Ruth was a graduate of White Station High School and Memphis State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Accountancy and a Master of Finance. She went on to complete her Certified Public Accounting License. The majority of Ruth's career was spent with Clark and Clark Real Estate Developers, where she served as Chief Financial Officer for 25 years.

Ruth was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She deeply loved three things in life: the Lord, family, and friends. Her faith and hope in Christ were evident to everyone who met her. For thirty-six years she was an active member of Second Presbyterian Church where she served in various roles, including as a Deacon, on various committees, and as a mentor to many women. Her participation in Bible Study Fellowship was a source of comfort and spiritual growth. While serving the Lord at church and participating in Bible-study groups, she developed many deep friendships.

One of her greatest passions was caring for her family. Her face would light up when she spent time with any of her nine grandchildren. She cared for her family well and was always willing to help in any way possible. Her home was the central gathering place for family events. Often, she would spend hours preparing wonderful meals to celebrate birthdays, holidays, and other family occasions.

Ruth is survived by her sons, Frank Warren (Suellen); William Warren; Matthew Warren (Lenox); brother-in-law Clifton Kirkpatrick; grandchildren, William Warren, Jr. (Melanie), Kyle Warren, Samuel Warren, Tyler Warren, Jedidiah Warren, Caleb Warren, Worthington Warren, Madeleine Warren, great-grandson Theodore Warren; and several nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Diane Kirkpatrick and Claire Worthington, and grandson Luke Warren.

A memorial service celebrating Ruth's life will be held on July 27, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at Independent Presbyterian Church, with a reception to follow. She will be laid to rest in a private family burial at Memorial Park Cemetery beside her parents, grandparents, and grandson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to Hope House and the Independent Presbyterian Church Foundation. Ruth's daughters-in-law, Lenox and Suellen, serve as directors for each organization, respectively.
