I fell in love with Orioles baseball in 1969. Dave Johnson was immediately my favorite player. I was so thrilled to meet him at a neighborhood autograph session in 1972. I stayed the entire time. I still have that picture somewhere. I always looked up Dave´s progress after he left Baltimore and was thrilled when he became a manager. I was still following his life today when I found out we had lost him. Godspeed, Dave. RIP. >Joann Sim

Only met him once at his home in (winter pk). Florida, DJ was a humble " down to earth" caring person. Despite his Fame and fortune meeting him in person, you would just see a kind and friendly human being.
Prayers for his family and friends

Davey was a great friend for over 40 years. We played golf many times over the years at both Interlachen and Rio Pinar country clubs.
He found and sold me a beautiful piece of property on the little Econ river
where I build a home and lived there 17 years. He was a frequent visitor! I was so pleased when Davey invited me to the 1986 World Series when he was manager of the Mets.
My sympathies to Susan and the rest of his family.
RIP, Davey

An incredible manager whose unique approach to baseball made him one of the best in the game. He made major contributions to the Mets team, with his hard work and different approach to the game, helping them win a World Series. Condolences to the Johnson family, sorry for your loss. May God be with you all in your time of loss.

I met Davey in LaGuardia Airport as I was getting ready to board a flight back when he managed the Mets. He was signing an autograph for a young boy and his pen ran out of ink. I offered him a pen and he signed the boys hat and offered the pen back to me. I told him to keep it and he smiled and I walked off. I saw him in another area of the airport later and he nodded with a smile of appreciation, it stuck with me. A GREAT 2nd basemen and a good manager. RIP.
