DAVID KIELBOWICZ

Northampton, MA - David S. Kielbowicz, of Northampton, MA, passed away Sunday August 4th after a prolonged period of declining health.

David was born in Northampton on December 28, 1953 to Jean (Wanczyk) Kielbowicz and Stanley Kielbowicz. David grew up and attended public schools in Amherst, graduating from Amherst High School and attending community college. David spent many years working locally as a laborer, and in service and retail.

David was a kind and gentle man with a love for sports and animals. David was generous with his time and was always available to help grandparents, aunts and uncles. He was curious-wondering and learning about the new technologies that emerged during his lifetime. He mostly mastered some of them-like the Smart TV, and remained more a voyeur of others. He had many interests and loved music. David was devoted to his family and nurtured many loving relationships during his life-especially with his mother, Jean.

David was a survivor of a lifetime battle with chronic mental illness. His courage and curiosity around this aspect of his life has been an inspiration to those who knew him. Later in life, David was part of the Starlight Clubhouse in Florence where he found meaningful work and connections.

David loved watching sports at local pubs with his Uncle Bob, learning about his interests, and attending family gatherings. He was always generous with and curious about his young cousins-whom he treated like nieces and nephews. He had a soft spot for animals and relished giving love to family pets.

David was predeceased by his mother Jean, his father Stanley and his sister Leanne (Kielbowicz) Floyd. He is survived by his extended family of aunts and cousins, as well as several dear friends, and will be sadly missed.

Arrangements for David will be private and are being handled by Czelusniak Funeral Home.
