Judith Fisher Obituary

Judith Fisher

Easthampton/Huntington, MA - Judith Louise (Bettey) Fisher, age 82, a former resident of Easthampton and Huntington, died on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at the Highview of Northampton Nursing Home after long battle with Alzheimer's Disease.

Judy was born on April 26, 1942 in Athol, MA and she was the daughter of the late Louisa (Mallet) Bettey and Romeo Bettey. She was educated in the Athol Public Schools and graduated from Athol High School in the Class of 1960. On September 7, 1963 in Athol, Judy married the love of her life, Lawrence "Larry" Harry Fisher and together they celebrated 55 years together until Larry's death on July 10, 2018.

Judy and Larry relocated to Easthampton shortly after their marriage, together they became involved in the community. Judy was an Executive Secretary for many years at the former J.P. Stevens Company in Easthampton before her retirement. She then continued her career working for many years at Pine Valley Reality in Easthampton. Judy and Larry moved to Huntington shortly after their retirements, enjoying the comfort of the quiet country living for some years.

Judy was proud Catholic, living those values each and every day. She was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Parish in Easthampton, before joining the Holy Family Parish in Russell. She will always be remembered for her infectious smile that matched her wonderful personality, wit and great sense of humor. She was truly devoted to her family and was always very supportive to her son Larry in his life growing up and was his number one fan on and off the field or ice. Her interests were many, including shopping for items at religious stores, singing, music, board games and cards, gardening, love of flowers and spending quality time with her grandchildren.

Judy is survived by her devoted son; Larry W. Fisher and daughter in law, Lori (Plantier) Fisher of Easthampton, cherished grandchildren; Alex and Rachel Fisher of Easthampton, sister; Joanne (Bettey) Dumas of Port St. Lucie Florida and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Besides being predeceased by her parents, Louisa, Romeo and her husband Larry of 55 years. Judy was predeceased by her twin sons at birth at birth in 1966, Michael Charles and Angelo John Fisher.

A Funeral Liturgy for Judy will be held on Saturday, September 28th at 10am at the Holy Family Parish, 5 Main Street in Russell, followed by a joint committal service for Judy and Larry at St. Thomas Cemetery, Russell Road in Huntington. At Judy's request there are no Calling Hours. Please consider in lieu of flowers, donating to your local Hospice or Alzheimer's Association.
