Lorraine Roberts Obituary
Northampton, MA - Lorraine M. Roberts Florence, MA passed away peacefully at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA October 26, 2024 surrounded by her family. Lorraine was born to Ernest and Mary "Chagnon" Giroux on September 23, 1943 in Northampton Massachusetts. She is a St. Michael's High School graduate. Her favorite holiday was Christmas including watching Christmas movies all year round, wrapping presents, decorating and especially her Christmas Eve celebration with her loved ones, friends and always had an open door to anyone who did not have a place to go on Christmas Eve. She also loved watching baseball, and going to the casino.
Lorraine was employed by Smith College where she received the Gavel award in 2000, she retired in 2007 after 21 years of service, previously she was employed by the Florence Diner and Alexander's Restaurant for 18 years.
She leaves behind her life partner Gerard Sheehan, her daughter Melissa (husband Thomas) Roberts-Cote of Florence and son Kevin Roberts of Easthampton and granddaughter Alyssa of Orleans Massachusetts. She also leaves her brother Raymond (wife Patricia) Giroux of Hatfield and is predeceased by her brother Robert Giroux. She leaves several nieces and nephews, Gabrielle, Anita, Darnell, Angela, Mark, Todd, Carl, and Paul Michael a multitude of beloved friends.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

So sorry to hear of Laurie's passing. Knowing her and her family was a special time for me.
7 My closest connection was caring for her father when he was hospitalized. The love she had for her father and family was very apparent.

Laurie and I worked at Smith. She had a wonderful personality and we would always be out foxing the bosses to sneak off somewhere to smoke. Laurie was not afraid to speak her mind and I admired that about her.
Known for her french curls and booming voice she could do her job in record time. She taught me some of the in's and out's that made the job easier.
She loved her family and spoke about Jerry and her kids with love in her eyes. She enjoyed traveling and always shared her albums. And she kept everything from ticket stubs to photos as memories. Laurie was a wonderful woman.

Missy, I am so sorry for your loss. Laurie was an absolute gem! She was a highlight during my time at Smith, celebrating "her girls" accomplishments and encouraging and lifting us up when things weren't going well. I feel so lucky I knew her.
