Richard (Dick) Baker

Shelburne Falls, MA - Richard (Dick) Baker, 83, of Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at the home of his daughter, on Sunday, November 24th, 2024, after a lengthy battle with congestive heart failure. He was born December 17th,1940 in Greenfield, Mass. He lived in Shelburne Falls most of his life. Richard worked for Beneficial Finance, First National Bank and as Business Manager for Cooley Dickinson Hospital as well as Security at Deerfield Academy. In 1992, Richard fulfilled his dream and obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from North Adams State. This led him to serve on the finance committee in Shelburne Falls and was the head accountant for the Shelburne Fire District for several years and was a driver for Don Lorenz Inc. before he retired. He was an U.S. Air Force Veteran.

Richard is survived by his cherished wife of 57 years, Ann E. Baker of Shelburne Falls, his beloved daughter Suzanne Sweeney and son in law Paul Sweeney of Hampstead, NC, his adored grandchildren, Aunilie Linehan of Charlotte, NC, Angela Linehan of Charlotte, NC, and Curran Linehan of Boone, NC, his brother Neil Baker and his wife Ellie of Cheshire and several nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased by his sister Marjorie Martineau and brother-in law Hank Martineau.

The family will have a private service at a later date.

I have so many cherished memories of my Uncle Dick. We would visit Shelburne Falls every summer. It was a trip we looked forward too. His mischievous sense of humor was unmatched. He would give me a nudge and look at me with a smile and bright blue eyes and you knew he had something to make you laugh.
We were blessed to have you in our lives and will love and miss you till we meet again. Rest in peace
