Smart, Theodore William

Theodore William Smart passed away peacefully on December 11, 2024, with his family by his side at Hospice Care of Butler & Warren Counties in Middletown, Oh. He was 87 years old!

Ted was born to Charles and Irene (Wildenhaus) Smart on October 22, 1937 in Dayton, Ohio. Ted graduated from Chaminade High School in 1956 and served in the Army National Guard and Ohio National Guard upon graduation. He loved working at the flea market and spending time with his family. He was a hero to his children and cherished his time farming in his younger years. Ted was always known for his willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He touched countless lives with his outgoing personality and ability to engage with people regardless of their background.

Ted is survived by his son Theodore (Diane), daughter Suzanne, daughter Diana (Roger) Bales, daughter Linda (Alan Ferguson), daughter Jackie (John) Balon, daughter Corey (Vinny Chirico) Smart and long-time companion Gloria Barton. He is also survived by his nephew Dan (Mary) Bowman, 19 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Ted was preceded in death by his father Charles William Smart, mother Irene, stepmother Clare Smart, and sister Marlene Smart McLefresh.

A celebration of life for Ted will arranged by the family at a future date.
