Cheryl Landen Obituary
Cheryl A. (Shafor) Landen, 69, of Middletown, passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2024 at Atrium Medical Center. She was born in Dayton on May 10, 1955 to parents, James Sr. and Janet (Pflanzer) Shafor. Cheryl earned her Bachelor's degree in education and enjoyed a short career as a teacher and small business owner before dedicating her remaining years to her family. She enjoyed working part-time as a crossing guard with Middletown Public Schools and at the Middletown Arts Center. Cheryl was a dedicated, active member of the Middletown community. Most notably, she volunteered with Light Up Middletown and in many capacities with Middletown Lyric Theatre. Cheryl's greatest joy was spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by her sons, Scott (Rebekah) Landen & Alex (Haley) Landen; grandchildren, Lenna & Lucas Landen; sisters, Cindy Sepos, Jennifer Shafor, Christine Mack & Catherine Shafor; brothers, James Shafor, Jr. & Charles Shafor; and many nieces & nephews. In addition to her parents, Cheryl was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 46 years, Leslie Scott "Les" Landen. A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 11:00 am at Holy Family Parish - Holy Trinity Church, 201 Clark St., Middletown, with Father John Civille as celebrant. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 - 11:00 am at the church. A Celebration of Cheryl's Life will follow, from 12 noon - 3:00 pm at the Middletown Arts Center, 130 N. Verity Parkway, Middletown. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Light Up Middletown, P.O. Box 1583, Middletown, OH 45042 - OR - Middletown Arts Center, 130 N.
