Ann Peters Marvin, born Ann Peters Crowley on February 11, 1926, in Danvers, Massachusetts, died in her sleep on January 3, 2025, on her farm in Denton, Maryland.

The daughter of Daniel Napoleon Crowley, Jr., and Lurana Newcomb Butler Crowley, Ann grew up in Peabody and Marblehead Massachusetts with two older sisters, Lurana and Katharine, and a younger brother Christopher. She received a BA from the University of Michigan in 1949 and master's degrees from Harvard and Tufts universities. On October 5, 1957, she married Olympic bronze medal sailor John Marvin, also from Marblehead.

Ann Marvin began her professional career as a high school teacher and college professor, teaching English at Ipswich high school and later at Curry College. Her husband John owned and operated a commercial fishing business, the American Original Corporation. The couple had two children, Katharine and Kim Marvin. When John's business moved from Rhode Island and New Jersey to the Delmarva Peninsula in 1970, the family moved to the Eastern Shore of Maryland and Ann taught English, Psychology, and Sociology at Chesapeake Community College. In June of 1980, John Marvin was killed in an automobile accident and Ann assumed the role of CEO of American Original which, at the time, operated a fleet of 22 fishing vessels from Cape Hatteras to Georges Banks with clam processing plants in Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia. After almost ten years as CEO of American Original, in 1989 she and her family sold the business to Clearwater Fine Foods of Nova Scotia Canada.

After the sale of American Original, Ann owned and lived on Two Rivers Farm, a working farm near the Choptank River. She spent her summers on Kenniston Island on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. She loved and was deeply loved by an extended family who knew her as "Pete" or "Pippie." A tremendous force in all our lives for almost a hundred years, she will be remembered for her optimism, confidence, determination, sense of humor and love of animals. She loved life and lived it passionately all the way to the end. She used to say that she wanted to live to 103. Close enough.

Ann Marvin is survived by her daughter Katharine Marvin, son Kim Marvin, granddaughters Victory Bastable and Helen Marvin, grandson John Marvin, great grandson Hadrian Bastable, and her Great Dane, Daisy.
