Merriam Burns Kocur Obituary

Merriam Dale Burns Kocur, age 81, resident of Millington, Tennessee, departed this life Sunday morning, January 5, 2025 at Methodist North Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

Merriam was born July 4, 1943 in Courtland, Mississippi, the daughter of the late Horace Dale Burns and Minnie Ola Martin Burns. She was a homemaker throughout her life and loved music, dancing, flowers, butterflies, her church and her family.

Ms. Kocur is survived by two daughter, Kathy Cranford and Tracy Rooks; her son, Glenn McCulley; her sister, Linda Faye Phillips (Roy); her brother, Buddy Burns (Lana); six grandchildren, Randy Roach Jr., Dustin Heins, James Cranford, Brandon Chesney, and Riley Poole; four great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Tammy McCulley and her brother, Rodney Burns.

A visitation for Ms. Kocur will be from 12 to 1 P.M. Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland, Tennessee. Funeral Services will be at 1 P.M. Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Mike Hollaway, pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Rossville, Tennessee, officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery at Williston, Tennessee.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be James Cranford, Brandon Chesney, Riley Poole, Danny Phillips, Rickey Phillips and Robert Phillips.
