Sallie Woedl Obituary

Woedl, Sallie L.

Sallie L. Woedl of Sharonville, Ohio passed away peacefully on January 7, 2025. She was born on February 22, 1950 in Hamilton, Ohio and enjoyed her childhood with identical twin sister, Sandy, swimming at Wilson pool, ice skating on the creek, riding bikes and having fun times at Schwarzwald Playground. Sallie graduated from Hamilton Taft Senior High School in 1968. She continued her education at Miami University where she graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree in 1972 and also was made a member of Phi Beta Kappa that year. She earned a degree of Master of Education from Miami in 1975 and a Master of Arts in Education degree from the college of Mount St. Joseph in 1982. Sallie was employed as a teacher in the Southwest School District at Harrison High School, in the Lawrenceburg (Indiana) Community Schools at Greendale Middle School and at the East End Community Heritage School in Cincinnati. She was a dedicated special education teacher for more than 30 years. Sallie was a lifelong member of Faith Church in Hamilton and a member of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority, an international honorary sorority for women educators for 23 years. Reading, gardening, walking and traveling were some of her passions. Spending time with her family and keeping in touch with German relatives were important to her. Sallie was preceded in death by her parents Alfred and LaVerne (Knodel) Woedl. She is survived by her twin sister and best friend, Sandy, her brother, Robert (Sherry), her sister, Judy Jamison (Barry), nieces Kara Mitchell (Bradley), Christina Woedl (Sean Dirickson), and Jennifer Woedl; nephew Kyle Jamison (Jess); great nephews Matix and Nixon Dirickson, Julian Trujillo, Hunter and Keegan Mitchell, Kashton Jamison; great nieces Scarlett Mitchell, Lakyn Jamison and Mila Woedl; aunt Dolores (Woedl) Bennett and uncle Don Knodel, and many caring cousins, friends, and neighbors. The family would like to thank Dr. Edward Crane and his staff at TriHealth Cancer Institute for excellent care the last seven months. Sallie was a fighter but could not conquer her diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. We would also like to thank Dr. Patricia Bender for her special care and friendship and the kind nurses and staff at Hospice of Blue Ash. A huge thanks also to lifelong friends Nancy and Niki for being there for Sallie and Sandy. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home, 980 N.W. Washington Blvd., Hamilton, Ohio, 45013 with Pastor Jeremy Pruett. A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sallie's memory to Faith Church, 1877 Millville Avenue, Hamilton, OH 45013 or Pancreatic Cancer Action Network Donation Processing Center PO Box 5041 Boone, IA 50950-0041.
