Margaret Spain Obituary

Margaret Spain, beloved sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2024, in Germantown, Tennessee. She was born in Texas to Casey and Millard Spain, and is survived by her two sisters, Cindy Jones (Tallahassee, Florida) and Bette Walker (Union, Kentucky), brother-in-law David Walker, and many nieces and nephews. Margaret graduated from Germantown High School and Memphis State University, where she was an active member of Alpha Gamma Delta. Upon graduation she went to work for First National Bank of Memphis (First Horizon) and retired 40 years later as a senior vice president. Margaret truly blessed all who knew her with her kind heart, quick wit, and keen intellect. Her love of music led her to many years of singing with the Lindenwood Church choir and the Gary Beard Chorale. She enjoyed art and travel and especially the company of her family and loyal friends. In keeping with Margaret's wishes for simplicity, no formal services are planned. A family memorial will take place in the spring. To send a donation in Margaret's memory, please consider St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, The Church Health Center, or The Wounded Warrior Project, her favorite charities.

Margaret and I, along with 3 other gals & 1 guy, were in a folk group called The Fiasco Singers named as a joke, but we were quite good! We won the Germantown Talent Show and then were in the Mid-South Fair Talent Show in 1965. Margaret was a very smart young woman and while we lost touch over the last 60 years, I was glad to have known her. Sincere condolences to her family.
