Wayne Wheeler Obituary

Wayne Wheeler

South Sutton, NH - Wayne V. Wheeler, 87, of Jolly Farm Road, died Monday, January 13, 2025 at the New London Hospital.

He was born on August 6, 1937 the son of Harris E. Wheeler, Sr. and Dorothy L. (Storrs) Pelletier.

Wayne was born at Jolly Farm and spent his lifetime there. He was a man of many talents and interests and accomplished several things throughout his lifetime. He owned and operated a garage in Bradford, NH and also Wayne V. Wheeler Construction Company and hauled logs as Wayne V. Wheeler Timber Transport. Of course, he was a true farmer owning dairy cows, oxen, pigs, chickens and draft horses. Whatever else he did, he was always a farmer.

The highlight of any year was traveling to the fairs. He just loved going and taking the kids. He would pull oxen and just enjoy the camaraderie of being with friends. Wayne was the "King of Cob" being able to piece together almost anything needing repair or rebuilding and was a tinkerer enjoying old machinery. ....."..and we might have had a few swallows"

He is predeceased by his parents and longtime companion, Dorothy Morin and brother, Harris Wheeler, Jr. Wayne is survived by two children, Barry Wheeler of Bradford, NH and Chris (Todd) St. Cyr of Sutton, NH; five grandchildren, Devin (Stephanie), Justin (Natalie), Morgan, Jacki (Dany) and Marshall; great grandchildren, Dylan, Nathan, Kyleigh, Sawyer, Ava, Elise, Wheeler and Steele; two sisters, Sharon (Bob) Strout of Loudon, NH and Bonnie (Ed) Mutney of FL; nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2025 at 3:00 P.M. at the Bradford Community Church and burial will be in Sunny Plain Cemetery, Bradford, NH in the spring.

I can see him right now with his dog on his lap, smoking his pipe, logs stacked as high as the sky and that grin as he looks down from the cab. I have to say one of the best times in my life was hanging out with Wayne and his family.

I had known Wayne all my life( I am 85) Went to school with him. When I lived at Fox Chase He would plow a place in a marsh so my sister and I could go Ice Skating. One winter I had to stay in N.H. at my Moms house on Bradford and Wayne plowed the driveway for me. He was a good friend.

I met Wayne in his garage in the early sixties on Main Street, Bradford. I got to know him well in the seventies as a friend and customer at Knoxland Equipment. I always enjoyed being able to help him. I learned that he was a real good, caring and hardworking man that loved life and family. I am so glad that I was at Hopkinton Fair when Wayne stopped at the Knoxland Booth. We had a wonderful visit with the same old Wayne I always knew and respected. He will always be in my heart as a valued friend.
