Harold Pickett Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Harold Wayne Pickett on January 20, 2025. Born on September 9, 1931, in Finger, Tennessee, Harold led a life full of accomplishment, dedication, and love. Harold was a retired employee of the General Electric Company and had also worked at the Caterpillar Tractor Company in Morton, Illinois. His career included achievements in both dancing and electronics, as indicated by his many diplomas and awards in these fields. Harold was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy Nell Pickett; his father, Sidell Pickett; his mother, Lilly Exie Pickett; and his four siblings, Geraldine Henderson, Patricia McEarl, Shirley Hinson, and Larry Pickett. He is survived by a loving family that includes his son, Gary Pickett and his wife Cherry; his stepdaughter, Janie Powers and her husband David. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Erin Beck and her husband Steve, Trent Pickett and his wife Jennifer Ann, Robert Brock Pickett and his wife Jennifer Sara, Lundyn Cairns and her husband Iian Cairns, Josh Powers, Nick Powers and his wife Courtney, Anna King and her husband Matt. Harold cherished his great-grandchildren: Henry Duke Pickett, Ruby Kate Pickett, Penny Lee Pickett, Ann Elizabeth Pickett, Cherry Lee Beck, Sophie Rose Beck, Addy, AJ, Rhett, Caylex, Nixon, and Oliver. He is also survived by his four remaining sisters: Lequita Wiley, Shelby Jones, Virginia McEarl, and Brenda Smith. The family would like to thank the Baptist Hospice house for the tremendous care and loving kindness extended to Harold in his final days and also Germantown Plantation for the 14 years he resided at that address. Harold's life will be celebrated at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Poplar Avenue during a visitation on January 23, 2025, at 9:00 AM, followed by graveside services at 10:00 AM (weather permitting) Harold Wayne Pickett will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his family, his professional achievements, and the joy he brought to those around him. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
