David Morris Obituary

David Lee Morris, Sr. was born January 16, 1961 to the late Mr. R.V. Morris and Mrs. Annie Mae Morris in Rossville, Tennessee.

He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at Solomon Temple #2 under the leadership of Elder Aubrey Taylor.

He met the love of his life while attending a church service and the Lord revealed to him that she was his wife. After a brief courtship, on June 15, 2002, Minister David Lee Morris and Sis. Beverly Morris were united in holy matrimony. This union of two became six. They were married 22 years.

After becoming an ordained Elder while attending King Temple COGIC, under the leadership of Pastor Bennie Crutchfield, Jr., God gave Elder Morris a vision concerning his own ministry. After encountering various obstacles and waiting on God's direction, he continued to assist in the ministry at the Shelby County Correction Facility. As he continued to do ministry, Elder Morris began his search for a building of his own where God's people could worship. Through resilience and hard work, he was determined to fulfill God's plan. The door was opened, and the way was made for him to establish Without Measure Church of God in Christ. On Sunday, June 10, 2012, the first service was held. The power of God moved in a mighty way as Elder Morris preached his first sermon as Pastor.

To cherish his memory, he leaves his beloved wife, Beverly Ann Morris, his three sons, Corey Morris, David Morris Jr. (Tandrea) both of Rossville, TN and Stephen Starks (Lashundra) of Memphis, TN.; two brothers, James P. Morris of Collierville and Joe N. Morris of Oakland, TN.; two brothers-in-law, Charles A. Starks of Horn Lake MS and Cedric E. Starks of Memphis, TN.; two sisters-in-law Melody A, Payne (Jackson) of Eads, TN., Gwendolyn Payne of Memphis, TN.; one aunt, Lue Stotts; ten grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends.
