I met Pat at First Baptist Church Lauderdale. Pat was a "lady". She carried herself in this way. The love of her life was Dennis. I admired how they showed love toward one another. Pat was smart and very articulate in dealing with church business and events. She always greeted me with a warm smile and kind words. She loved her family and definitely some Dennis. I think when she spoke his name not only could you hear every syllable but you could hear each letter in his name. She loved her children. She loved being active and sharing herself. She will be missed.

I want to send my deepest condolences to the entire family, and I will share several memories of our time together. I was truly blessed, and honored to have Mrs. Pat Murphy in my life. She was such a sweet person. I can remember the first day we met. She taught me so much in Accounting at Shelby County Goverment Health Department. She said "your cubical is right here next to me." I knew I was in good hands. Her first impression was a lasting one. Whenever she answered the phone or introduced herself you would hear her say " PAT MURPHY Accounting ". She had a voice you could never forget. When it was lunch time just like clock work the phone would ring, and she would see a certain phone number that made her smile each time. Guess how she answered the phone?" Hey DENNIS I will be right out." He always got out to open her door. If it rain, he never let her get wet. One day I had to ask her "does Mr. Murphy do the same thing everyday.?" Then she explained somethings to me about him, when they met, his love for her,Carver High school, FAMU, and getting married. Most special moments was the arrival of Beautiful TAM and Handsome Chip, who had special greetings when she answer their phone calls. She was excited when Chip had his son. They spoiled himon a daily basis. We talked about everything. She was a role model, and a mother figure in my life. She was a smart classy well dressed professional lady. She loved Delta Sigma Theta Soroity. It was a very special part of her life. She always showed acts of kindness. My brother was returning to the United States, she went home after work and prepared a special meal for him. I took it home placed it on my table and he enjoyed it. That is how sweet Ms. Murphty was. She stepped in and coordinated my wedding years after we weren't working together. She said "don't worry about flower girls, I know two professionals." Thanks to Tam and Lloyd for Lauren, and Lacy. Mr.Murphy, you are a great example of what a husband should be. Tam, and Chip thanks for sharing your Mother with me. Joan she was proud to call you her sister. She will be missed. She will always have a special place in my life.
Deepest Condolences,
