Donnie Jeans

Donnie Carlos Jeans was born on January 28,1951, in Memphis, Tennessee to Curtis and Janice Jeans. He departed this life on January 28, 2025, his seventy-fourth birthday.
Donnie was raised in the historic Orange Mound neighborhood and lived most of his life in this community, and later years in Cordova, Tennessee. In his early life, he was a member of Parkway Gardens Presbyterian Church. Donnie was a proud member of the Melrose High School graduating Class of 1969. He continued his education at Tennessee State University (TSU), which he fondly remembered as a place where he learned many life lessons and met some of his closest friends.
Donnie lived and worked in various cities before eventually relocating back to Memphis where he worked diligently as a painter, a trade learned from his father as a teenager. As he perfected his craft, Donnie's established a thriving interior/exterior contract painting business. Donnie was later employed for many years with the Memphis City Schools as a painter and retired in 2013. Donnie also owned and self-managed a multi-family unit property for over twenty-five years.
Donnie met Shirley A. Moore of Clairton, Pennsylvania while she was visiting his sister, Beryl, in Memphis. They married around a year later, on August 6, 1983. Their family expanded with the birth of their daughter, Ashley Nicole. Donnie was proud of his family and extended family. He was also a loyal follower of TSU and Melrose sports, attending and watching football games on television.
Donnie was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Beryl Ann Moore.
He will be held in memory and love by his devoted wife, Shirley; daughter, Ashley Moore; son-in-law, Ryan Moore; granddaughters, Riley and Raegan Moore who affectionately called him PaPa; brothers, Curtis L. Jeans, Jr., (Yolanda) and Derrell Jeans (Gazelle); sister, Andrea Jeans; many nephews and nieces, great nephews and great nieces; and also favored by many cousins, extended family and friends.
