Mary A. Frenier

Florence, MA - Mary A. (Callahan) Frenier, 72, of Florence, died Friday, January 31, at home after a lengthy illness.

She was born on May 27, 1952, in Ashland, Ohio to the late Maurice E. and Elizabeth J. (Culler) Callahan. During her younger days, her family settled in Monson, Mass. Mary graduated from Monson High School in 1970.

She attended the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and then lived in Weymouth, Mass. before returning to western Massachusetts. She worked at the Center for Extended Care in Amherst for more than three decades in the laundry department before retiring.

Her interests included reading, watching the New England Patriots, the Professional Golfers Association Tour and also following the UMass Minutemen. She also enjoyed her yearly trips to Maine with her family.

Mary leaves her husband of 45 years, Francis H. Frenier of Florence, a son, Adam Frenier and his wife Meagan of Westfield, and a daughter, Jana Frenier of Boston. She also leaves her sisters, Nancy Lech and husband John of Summerfield, Florida, Carol Callahan and husband John Canon of West Roxbury, and her brother, John Callahan and wife Shirley of West Springfield. Mary also leaves her sisters-in-laws Donna Callahan of Winchendon, Maryellen Scott of Florence, and Sara Ingham of Arlington, and a brother-in-law, Fr. Steven Frenier, OFM, Conv., of Syracuse, N.Y. She also leaves several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by three brothers, Jeremiah Callahan, Michael Callahan and Daniel Callahan, and one sister, Kathleen Seay.

At Mary's request, there will be no services. A celebration of life will be held in the spring.

The Williamsburg Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
