Betty Collins Obituary

Betty Hill Collins, 82, of Memphis, Tennessee passed away at her home surrounded by her family on February 18, 2025.She was born to the late H.B. Hill and Doris Scarborough Hill on April 9, 1942 in Gates, Tennessee. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Kirby Griffin and her sister, Billie Kitts. Betty is survived by her loving husband John Collins, Sr.; children, Teressa Cannon (Gary), Dean Griffin (Dana), Kelly Griffin (Donna), John "Jay" Collins, Jr. (Penny), Laura Shirk, Cynthia Jones; grandchildren, Margaret, Blake, Brandon, Brooke, Jacob, Christopher, Zachary, Kellyn, Rachel, Morgan, Westin and Braden; great-grandchildren, Madison, Griffin, Eliza, Anna; and her sister, Shirley; and the widow of Kirby, Kim Giffin; along with many Nephews and Nieces. Family will receive friends from 10:30am to 11:30 in the parlor at Christ Church Memphis, 4488 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN. Services will follow in the chapel at 11:30am. A private burial will be held for the family at Elmwood Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Jacob Griffin, Christopher Collins, Zachary Griffin, Blake Shirk, Brandon Shirk and David McGhee.

I knew Betty from the Lamplighter Sunday School at Christ Church. She was a sweet, caring lady who always had a smile and something positive to say. She will be missed.
