Betty Wren Obituary

Betty Jean Wren, 90, entered the presence of the Lord on Monday, February 24, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 5, 1934, in Memphis, TN, she was the cherished daughter of the late Wilkins and Mable Goodwin. A proud graduate of Olive Branch High School, Betty found joy and fulfillment in her dream job at the Mississippi Welcome Center, where she warmly greeted visitors as part of the Mississippi Department of Tourism. Betty was a devoted member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, where she faithfully served the Lord. Her radiant smile could light up any room, and those who knew her will always remember the warmth and kindness it conveyed. She had a love for softball and bowling, but her greatest joys in life were her children, grandchildren, and the years she spent welcoming travelers to her beloved home state. Her kindness, faith, and unwavering love for others will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by first husband, Larry Watson, her second husband, Lee Wren; her son, Robbie Neal Watson; her daughter, Betty Clair Burroughs; her great-granddaughter, Adalynd Watson; parents, Wilkins and Mable Goodwin; two sisters, Jessie Mae Watson and Mildred Waldrop, and three brothers, Archie Goodwin, Lawrence Goodwin, and W.C. Goodwin. Betty leaves behind four children: Kenny Watson (Gail), Jimmy Watson (Pam), Phil Wren (Joan), Shirley George, and a daughter-in-love, Judy Watson. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren: Larry Watson, Hayley Kaelin, Bryan Burroughs, Alex Burroughs, Zach Burroughs, Nicholas Watson, Brayden Watson, Stephen Wren, Amy Wren, and a host of other grandchildren and great grandchildren. A funeral service will occur on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at 2:00 pm with visitation beginning at 12:00 pm at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 4046 Pleasant Hill Rd. Olive Branch, MS 38654. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
