Francis Xavier McFadden Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on February 21, 2025, at the age of 83. His warmth, generosity, and kindness of spirit will forever be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Grace McFadden, and his granddaughter, Mary Katherine McFadden.
Frank, as he was affectionately known, was a longtime resident of Kimbrough Woods neighborhood in Germantown, TN, and, most recently, The Farms at Bailey Station in Collierville, TN. Frank is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Anne O'Keefe McFadden, and their four children: Patti Morris (Steve), Frank McFadden III (Malisa), Susan Smith (Peyton), and Stephen McFadden (Bethany). He was a proud and devoted "Pop-Pop" to his nine grandchildren – Jessica Morris, Daniel Morris, Garrett McFadden, Grayden McFadden, Riley Smith, Reed Smith, Eliza McFadden, Graham McFadden, and Hayes McFadden – who will forever cherish his memory. He is also survived by his brother, Jay McFadden (Blair), and sister, May Paul (Bob), along with his sister-in-law, Mary Alice Horos (Paul), and more than two dozen nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Frank was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he graduated from LaSalle College High School, Villanova University with a degree in Chemical Engineering and Temple University with an M.B.A. Frank served in the U.S. Army Reserve. His professional career was largely spent with W.R. Grace in New York and Memphis, as well as a private business owner. Frank was a longtime member and deeply involved in his parish at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Germantown, TN, serving as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister until the time of his passing. Frank was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus and The Christian 49ers (most recently serving as President). Frank had a love for traveling, sports, and, most of all, spending time with his family and friends. Always one to enjoy a party and among the last to leave, Frank had an incredible gift for engaging with people and never met a stranger.
A proud Philadelphian at heart, he remained a devoted fan of the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles and the three-time national champion Villanova Wildcats. We will always remember Frank playing tennis and golf with friends, our annual trips to Hilton Head, rooting for his grandchildren in all their endeavors, and his involvement and leadership with numerous clubs and organizations.
We offer our heartfelt gratitude for the prayers and generosity of our friends and family during this difficult time. Frank has been called home, and while we grieve his loss, we find comfort in knowing that we will be reunited once again in the presence of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
