John Robert Hansen

John Robert Hansen passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2025, in Memphis, Tennessee. He was born on April 26, 1947, in Memphis to Eldora and Robert Hansen. John was a devoted husband to his late wife, Vicky Hansen, with whom he shared many years of love and service to their community. In the last year of his life, he was blessed to find love again with his wife, Bonnie Haley Hansen, who brought joy and a beautiful new chapter to his life. He was a proud graduate of Treadwell High School, Class of 1965, and cherished his monthly lunches with classmates and friends. John built a successful career as a life insurance salesman and manager while maintaining a deep passion for the Memphis Tigers and the game of golf. A dedicated member of Highland Heights United Methodist Church, John served as treasurer for many years and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He and Vicky spent countless hours volunteering at their church and at their grandchildren's school, Margolin Hebrew Academy. Watching his grandchildren grow and participate in sports brought him immense joy. John is survived by his children, Tracey (David) Mendelson and Brad (Tammy) Hansen; his grandchildren, Benjamin, Elise, and Talya Mendelson, as well as Matthew Hansen and Jenna (Ethan) Clapp; his brother Don (Diane) Hansen; his sisters Phyllis Grant, Patti Petit, and Cindy (Rick) Bethea; and many nieces and nephews. John was known for his kindness, quick wit, and ability to bring laughter to those around him. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. A visitation for John will be held Thursday, March 13, 2025 from 9:30 AM until the funeral serviced at 10:30 AM, at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Ave, Memphis, TN 38122. The committal service will follow at Memphis Memory Gardens, 6444 Raleigh Lagrange Rd, Memphis, TN 38134.
