Gerald "Brother Henry Baldwin, FSC" Lecuyer

1931 - 2025

Gerald Lecuyer (Brother Henry Baldwin, FSC), son of Armand Lecuyer and Antoinette Rivard Lecuyer, was born May 10,1931 in Bourbonnais, Illinois. Brother Henry was predeceased by his parents, his brother Jim Lecuyer and his sister Theresa Lecuyer Raymond. He attended Notre Dame Elementary and Saint Patrick High Schools in Bourbonnais. He earned a bachelor's degree at Loyola University in Chicago before entering the De La Salle Christian Brothers' Novitiate in Glencoe, MO, in 1953. He received the habit and religious name Brother Henry Baldwin in August of 1953. He earned master's degrees from St. Mary's University in Winona, MN, George Peabody College at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, and Immaculate Conception Seminary in Mahwah, NJ. Brother Henry taught at St. Patrick High School and St. Paul Shared-Time High School in Chicago, Lourdes High School in Oshkosh, WI, Bishop Kelley High School in Tulsa, OK, and Christian Brothers High School in Memphis where he was librarian. From 1963 to 1969 he was principal and director at Christian Brothers College High School in St. Louis. He was librarian at St. Mary's University in Winona, Aquinas Institute in St. Louis, and University of St. Mary of the Lake in Mundelein, IL. In 2008 Brother Henry returned to CBHS in Memphis to spend his retirement years. He volunteered in the chancery office of the Diocese of Memphis. He moved to Ave Maria Home February 23, 2023. He entered eternal life on March 16, 2025.

A Memorial Mass celebrating the life of Brother Henry Baldwin will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, 4:00 p.m., in the Chapel of Christian Brothers High School in Memphis. Father Tom Lindner, of the Diocese of La Crosse, WI, longtime friend of Brother Henry, will be the celebrant and homilist.
