Elizabeth Doss Obituary

Elizabeth Ann "Beth" Doss, 56, passed away on April 9th, 2025, in her home in Cordova, TN. She was born on December 2nd, 1968, in Dallas, TX to Judith Ann Glaser and the late Thomas Warren Doss. In 1987, she graduated from Nathan Hale High School in Seattle, WA. She moved from Washington state to Memphis, TN and later gave birth to her son, James, in 1992. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Loewenberg College of Nursing at the University of Memphis in 1997, and started working as a registered nurse in 1998 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, TN. During her nursing tenure spanning a total of 27 years, she received multiple accolades such as Top 100 Nurses in Memphis and multiple Daisy awards. She also precepted numerous nurses in training and cared for thousands of people. She was an avid traveler, embarking on as many trips as possible, which were made all the better when accompanied by friends and family. She especially loved Paris and going on cruises. She cared for many wonderful pets throughout her life, most recently Pippi, Loki, and Gandalf. Beth is survived by her mother, Judith Ann Glaser, stepmother, Joann Benassi Doss, sister, Catherine Doss Petrie, and son, James David Doss. She is also survived by her grandson, Eliott Thomas Doss, granddaughter, Gwenyth Jayne Doss, nephew, Alexander Petrie, niece, Abigail Petrie, James' half-siblings, Kimimila and Wakinyan Adams, and her stepsiblings Donald Meyer, Sandra Armstrong, and Christine Worlow. The memorial service will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home (5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119) at 1pm on May 3rd, 2025. A visitation for family and friends will be held at 12pm prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lupus Foundation of America.

I am so very sorry to hear this terribly sad news! Beth and I were school friends in Austin TX. We had sleepovers often. Sadly, we did not keep in touch beyond those days. I remember her as fun, kind and always smiling! I also ended up as a nurse. I bet she was an amazing RN! My heart and prayers go out to her family and friends. God bless you all!
