Brandon Doss Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by H. H. Roberts Mortuary, Inc. on Dec. 10, 2025.
Born on June 11, 1971 in Cleveland, Ohio, Brandon Allen Doss entered the world surrounded by the love of his mother, Brenda Smith, and the guiding hands of his grandparents, Alvin and Rose Smith, who lovingly raised him. Their influence shaped his character; strong, principled, compassionate, and rooted in service to others.

A proud graduate of John Adams High School, Class of 1989, he went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Air Force, beginning his service the same year he graduated. His four years in the military reflected his lifelong commitment to duty, discipline, and leadership.

Following his service, he pursued higher education at Central State University, earning his degree in Political Science in 1998. He was well-known on campus for his work in the bookstore, where his smile and easygoing nature made him a familiar and cherished presence.

His life was deeply grounded in faith, brotherhood, and community. He was raised as a Master Mason on April 20, 1996, at Wilberforce Lodge #21, Prince Hall Affiliated, in Xenia, Ohio. His dedication to excellence and community uplift extended to his fraternity life as well. He became the first initiate of The Gem City Sigmas, Nu Phi Sigma Chapter, on June 11, 2008, proudly known by the line name Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde, also affectionately called Dr. Feel Good. He served as the chapter's first Social Action Director, coordinating transportation and participation in numerous community marches. He also organized the chapter's involvement in the HBCU Send-Off, generously providing raffle items such as refrigerators and microwaves for students beginning their journeys.

He was also a founding member of the Bottom Shelf Society, a role that brought him lifelong friendships, laughter, and unforgettable fellowship amongst his Centralian family.

His commitment to mentoring youth was among his greatest passions. He devoted more than a decade to coaching Pee Wee football and Junior High basketball, shaping not only athletes, but young people who knew they were valued, encouraged, and believed in.

Above all, he loved his family deeply. He leaves behind his son, Brandon Doss; his wife, Victoria Doss; his stepson, Jaden Blackshear; his stepdaughter, Tiara (Malik) Hollwell; and his beloved grandchildren, Trace Hollwell and Nova Doss, who brought endless joy into his life.

He is preceded in death by his mother and the grandparents who raised him, all of whom no doubt welcomed him home with open arms.

Brandon will be remembered for his service, his laughter, his commitment to community, and the warmth he shared freely with all who knew him. His legacy of love, mentorship, and brotherhood will live on in the countless lives he touched.
