Jacquelyn Dunson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by H. H. Roberts Mortuary, Inc. on Feb. 4, 2026.
Jacquelyn Yvonne Dunson departed this earth Thursday, October 16, 2024, at 12:15p.m.

She is survived by her brother Pastor Walter J. Dunson, Sr., sister Helen Phillips and a host of nieces and nephews. Jacquelyn is proceeded in Death by her parents, Pastor Joseph and Bessie Dunson, her brothers Cornell Dunson, Deacon Albert Dunson, Pastor Edward Dunson, and sisters, Ambassador Vivian Walton, Josephine Long, Gladys Allen, Louise Bing, Annie Wood, Dorothy Hicks and four siblings during infancy.

Jacquelyn was a member of Greater Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church. She would often grace the church with her rendition of "He's Got The Whole World in His Hands" which was taught to her by her sister, Ambassador Vivian Walton.

She lived an enriched life at Foundations, where she loved to "watch" her radio (TV), go shopping, and spend quality time surrounded by her stuffed animal companions. She was a connoisseur of cookies, meat skins and an array of other sweets and snacks. She found much joy in spending quality time with her family and always looked forward to the next family visit.

As a baby she was afflicted with scarlet fever and polio which left her with physical and developmental disabilities. It was those challenges that led her family to bring her to Dayton, Ohio to find a school that met her needs.

During her early years she faced much adversity in relation to her disabilities, but she did not allow that to limit her. Despite these challenges, she learned to become a defender of her rights and refused to give power to others. She danced to her own tune. She was not one to mince words. She had a rich, colorful vocabulary that always expressed her feelings.

Jackie, you will be missed. When you see all the family in heaven tell them we said hello and that they are missed as well. Oh, by the way don't forget, you are in your glorified body and will not need to wear your favorite black or white sweater.
