Nathaniel Burden Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dyer Memorial Chapel - Tulsa on Feb. 4, 2026.
Nathaniel Burden was born August 23, 1956 in Tulsa OK. He was the youngest child of Lee Grant and Addie Davis-Burden.

He grew up in the South Haven Community in Tulsa. At an early age under the leadership of Rev. Simms, Pastor of Greater Cornerstone Baptist Church, Nathaniel accepted Jesus Christ as his lord and Savior.

Nathaniel attended Tulsa Public Schools including South Haven and Remington Elementary, Clinton Jr. High and Webster High School. He graduated in 1974. He received an Associate Degree from NEO A&M College, Bachelor's Degree from University of Oklahoma and a Masters Degree from University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond.

Nathaniel was married twice, his first wife, Cheryl Chandler Burden and then to the love of his life, Yvonne Ann Burden on March 18, 2000. Nathaniel's work allowed him to travel to many places in his life time. Both him and Ann lived in Africa while he worked for Bridgestone. He would work on his golf swing in his spare time.

Nathaniel loved being around family and was affectionately known as "Uncle Nay."

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Lee and Addie, siblings: Darnisha Scott, Ruth Bagby, Rosie Alexander, Benny Lollis, Carletta Conley, Willie Gibson Jr, Henry L. Burden, and Steven Burden; his wife, Yvonne Ann and his son, Rufus (Jamie) Johnson.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his sister, Cordia Williams, daughter, Rochelle Bolton (Obie), grandchildren: Kalina, Christian, Sabrea and Amara; daughter in-law, Jaime Johnson, grand-uncle, Raymond Burden Sr. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins' and other family and friends.
