Nick Fox Obituary

Nick Fox, 88, of Oxford, MS, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2025, in Germantown, TN. Born on November 7, 1936, in Waco, Texas, to Greek immigrant parents Helen Stamatis Fox Spaliaras and Leo N Fox. At the age of 3, his father Leo passed away unexpectedly. He was later raised by his mother and stepfather John Spaliaras. He grew up in Dallas, TX where he was an active athlete and a recipient of the Eagle Scout award. He attended Southern Methodist University and was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. On October 22, 1964, he married the love of his life, Martha Ann Wynn, in Dallas. Together with their one-year-old son Chris, they moved to New Orleans where their son Tommy and daughter Nicole were born. In 1978, they made Germantown, TN their home where they raised their family and built many lasting memories. A faithful member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Memphis, TN, Nick served as President of both the AHEPA men's organization and the Parish Council. He was a passionate volunteer, especially during the Annual Memphis Greek Festival, where he generously gave his time and energy year after year. He also found joy in mentoring youth as the athletic director and head coach of the GOYA basketball teams and led the church's young adult coed softball team to a Memphis City Championship. Nick was a loyal Dallas Cowboys fan and rarely missed watching a game. Nick was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his beloved son Chris and his sister Evelyn Nickolas. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Martha Ann; his children Tommy (Meredith) and Nicole (Bobby) McNulty; and his cherished grandchildren: Corbin, Hannah, Harrison, Hayden and Lydia; his brother Tom L Fox of McKinney, Tx, his niece Ellena Fox and nephews Ken Nickolas and Chris Nickolas, George Fox and John Fox as well as his daughter in law Christi. A visitation will be held at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church on Highland Ave in Memphis, TN, at 12:00PM on Saturday, June 7. The funeral service will begin immediately following the visitation at 1:00PM. Burial will take place at Memorial Park Funeral Home & Cemetery on Poplar Avenue. Family and friends are invited to gather for a reception immediately following the burial at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or the American Cancer Society.
